Max Southern is an artist based in Newcastle, England.

Working primarily with single photographs, his practice functions as an inquiry into the place of the constructed photograph on the gallery wall. Within each work the photograph is viewed as a space of intention and as a set of decisions that create a coherent picture. In viewing the photograph as a constructed space, his aim is to make an engagement with the form, function, and nature of the photographic central to the viewers experience with the photograph on the gallery wall.
